Many seniors find it necessary to hire someone to mow their lawn, shovel a snowy driveway or sidewalk, or do their spring/fall cleaning. For some, the cost involved is beyond what they can afford, resulting in the senior not being able to have the help they need, or the senior attempting to do chores themselves that may be detrimental to their health. That's where Chore Services can help.

Chore Services is a program designed to provide financial assistance to individuals or families, who, due to incapacity, or illness, are unable to perform certain home maintenance functions. Services eligible for financial assistance through the Chore program on a limited basis include:

Yard Work

Snow Removal

Hanging Storms

Window Washing

Annual Heavy House Cleaning

Fire Hazard Removal

Window Air Conditioner
installation/removal

Hedge Trimming

Eaves Trough Cleaning

Simple Home Repairs

The Chore Services program provides eligible seniors with financial reimbursement for these and other home maintenance services. Priority is given to those who are 60 years of age or older, who are unable or limited in their finances to adequately maintain their properties and haven't any relatives in the area to assist them.

Once enrolled in the program, the senior hires an individual of their choice to perform the necessary eligible chores. When the work is completed, the senior will pay the worker according to any agreement made between the senior and the worker. Requests for reimbursement are recorded on a Chore Voucher and submitted monthly to Siouxland Aging Services, Inc. for processing.

Seniors contribute to the program based on a sliding fee scale. The fee, if any, is deducted from the eligible dollars to be reimbursed. Persons on SSI, or who are at or below poverty level are not required to contribute.
